What is the purpose of Captive Screw in Modules of IRD8800 Series?
4 Numbers of Captive Screws are provided per Module in IRD8800 Series systems. They serve the following purpose:
- They provide means to mechanically secure the modules to the Rack.
- They provide Electrical and Electronic earth to the modules via the Metal-to-Metal contact with the Rack
- They serve as anchor points and help in pulling out the module from the Rack slot
Captive Screw of IRD8800 Modules If the Captive screws are not tightened - the electrical or electronic earth can become incomplete and noise may not get removed from module. This noise will appear as a small reading in absence of actual vibration. If the noise does not get removed after tightening of the captive screw - then any reading in absence of actual vibration indicates a Zero error (Zero Tare Calibration needed)
