What is the Maximum Current Consumption (Power Consumption) of each Module of IRD8800 Series?
IRD8800 Series is a line of API670 Compliant Machinery Protection System (MPS) manufactured by IRD Mechanalysis Limited in India. Each module of IRD8800 series is designed to perform a specific set of measurement like Casing Vibration, Shaft Vibration, Shell Expansion, Differential Expansion, etc. Each module is Hot Swappable and is powered by a 24 V DC Redundant Supply. Each Module has its own inbuilt ORing Diode to achieve Redundancy in Power Supply.

The Maximum Current Consumption (Power Consumption) of each IRD8800 module is 500 mA DC when connected to 24 V DC Input Power. This equates to 12 W per Module. Steady state consumption per module is typically around 250 to 300 mA DC

We recommend providing SMPS of minimum 3 Times the Max Power of connected modules. So, for example, if 8 modules are connected on a power line - consuming 96 W max at startup state - we recommend that SMPS providing 24 V DC should have rated capacity of minimum 3 times i.e 288 W or more in this case.

As a standard practice, in our Panels we provide SMPS of 480 W when we are supplying power to 8 Modules
