What is a Casing Vibration Velometer?

Casing Vibration is the Vibration Measurement of the casing of a machine or bearing. When a Velometer is used for this purpose - then it is called as a Casing Vibration Velometer. Such a velometer remains in contact to bearing or casing surface with the help of studs, magnets or pads. It measures the vibration levels proportional to vibration velocity and hence the name velometers.

The Velometer provides a mV output proportional to vibration velocity mm/sec and thus the sensitivity of velometers is reported in mV/mm/sec. When used with a Portable Instrument or Online System - a Casing Vibration Velometer can be used to sense Overall Vibration as well as capture the characteristics of Vibration and generate plots such as Waveform, Spectrum and more.
