User Manual for Temperature Monitoring via IRD8800

Introduction

This Article serves as the User Manual when IRD8800 is used for Temperature Monitoring

Introduction to IRD Mechanalysis Limited

IRD Mechanalysis Limited - also commonly referred to as 'IRD' - is a provider of Condition Monitoring Solutions to the World since 1962. IRD provides Portable Instruments and Online Systems for Vibration, Temperature, Gap, Speed and Turbine Monitoring. IRD also provides associated services like Training, Consulting, Commissioning, Repairs and Calibration

Introduction to Temperature Monitoring

Temperature Monitoring is the practice of using Temperature Sensors like IRD515 (Vibration cum Temperature) or PT-100 RTD to continuously monitor Temperature of Industrial Machinery like Motors, Fans, Pumps, Compressors and more. This helps the user in Predictive Maintenance. The user is able to Monitor Temperature and get early warnings. The user is also able to protect their machine in event of Higher than acceptable temperatures

Introduction to IRD8800

IRD8800 Series of Monitoring System made by IRD in India is a Rack Based API670 Compliant Machinery Protection System (MPS). It has Modules for Vibration, Temperature, Speed, Gap and Turbine Monitoring

Temperature Monitoring Module M88950

Input Sensor

M88950 is a 4 Channel Module. It can accept Input from 4 Numbers of RTD PT-100

Full Scale Range

M88950 can Monitor Temperature in both Degrees Celsius as well as Degrees Fahrenheit. The Full Scale can be set to any value between the minimum and maximum permissible range. The Range is -100 Deg C to +500 Deg C when measuring in Degrees Celsius. The Range is -100 Deg F to +932 Deg F when measuring in Degrees Fahrenheit

4-20mA Output

M88950 provides Galvanically Isolated 4-20mA output proportional to set Full Scale Range. For example - if Full Scale range is -20 Deg C to +400 Deg C - then the module will provide 4mA output when reading is -20 Deg C and 20mA ouput when reading is +400 Deg C

Below Range and Over Range

If measured temperature goes below Range - then M88950 displays IPLO for the particular channel denoting Input Low and it brings the 4-20 mA output to 2.8 mA for indicating false signal to DCS/PLC/SCADA. If measured temperature goes Over Range - then M88950 displays IPHI for the particular channel denoting Input High and it brings the 4-20 mA output to 2.8 mA for indicating false signal to DCS/PLC/SCADA

Relay Operation and Contacts

M88950 has a Relay that has Independent Potential Free, 2 sets of Contacts per Channel rated for 5A @230 V AC resistive

MODBUS Output

RS485 MODBUS RTU Output; Default 57600 Baud Rate; Parity: None
