Introduction to IRD and IRD7100 MPT V25

IRD Mechanalysis Limited is a Company headquartered in Thane, Maharashtra, India. Also known as 'IRD' and 'The Vibration People' - IRD is involved in the Design, Manufacturing, Testing, Supply and Commissioning of Portable Instruments and Online Systems for Vibration, Temperature, Speed, Gap and Turbine Monitoring. To know more about IRD - please visit www.irdmech.com

IRD7100 is a Series of Online Monitoring System that can do Vibration, Temperature, Speed, Gap and Turbine Monitoring. It is called MPT - short for Machinery Protection Transmitter because it can do both Monitoring and Protection. It is Made in India by IRD and boasts the following features:
  1. Live Value displayed on the Lid via an easy to read 7 segment LED Display
  2. Rugged IP65 rated enclosure that can be mounted in field near the Machine in harsh environments
  3. Industry Standard Outputs such as 4-20 mA, 0-5 V DC, OK Relay Contacts, Alarm Relay Contacts and Trip Relay Contacts
IRD7100 MPT V25 is the variant made in 280 x 230 x 110 mm Aluminium Die Cast Enclosure and is 2 Channel. It can be ordered for Vibration, Temperature, Speed, Gap or Turbine Monitoring

Technical Aspects of IRD7100 MPT V25 for Vibration Monitoring

Enclosure

IRD7100 MPT V25 is a 2 Channel Unit that uses an IP65 rated Aluminium Die Cast Enclosure that can be mounted near the Machine in Harsh environments. The Size of the Enclosure is 280 x 230 x 110 mm and it has a Hinged Lid for ease of access to Input and Output Terminals. The Enclosure is equipped with 6mm holes on all corners for plate or wall mounting in field or in a cabinet

Input and Output Cable Glands

Typically each IRD7100 MPT V25 is equipped with 4 Numbers of PG11 cable glands for both Input and Output. IRD recommends using 1 Cable Gland for Power Input, 2 Cable Glands for the 2 Channels of Sensor Input and 1 Cable Gland for Signal Output like 4-20 mA output. More number of cable glands or different size of cable glands can be ordered or requested at the time of detailed engineering before manufacturing

Display

IRD7100 MPT V25 each channel is equipped with Live Display that is Calibrated to set Full Scale. This Display allows user to view Live Vibration and Adjust Setpoints for Alarm and Trip per Channel when needed. It is a Red Colored 7 Segment LED Display that is easy to view in Bright Sunlight as well as Dark environments

Signal Input

IRD7100 MPT V25 is a 2 Channel Unit. When configured for Vibration Monitoring - it can either do Casing Vibration Monitoring or Relative Shaft Vibration Monitoring - as ordered. When set for Casing Vibration Monitoring and Vibration Velocity full scale of 0-20 mm/s RMS or 0-50 mm/s RMS - IRD7100 MPT V25 can work with Accelerometers like IRD521, IRD570 and more and with Velometers like IRD531, IRD544M and more. Contact sales@irdmech.com to know the best Sensor choice for your Application

Buffered Output

IRD7100 MPT V25 is equipped with a Buffered Output per Channel when configured for Vibration Monitoring. The Buffered Output is a 1:1 copy of the Input Signal and can be used for Vibration Analysis using external Data Acquisition Hardware like NI cDAQ, NI cRIO, Gantner, etc. or Portable Vibration Analyzers such as vb7, OneProd Falcon, GTI Predictive VibePro8, etc.

To facilitate data collection and avoid switching OFF of Drive Current on connected external equipment - the DC Component of the Buffered Output is removed and only AC Dynamic Signal is available at the Buffered Output. The physical connector used for this Buffered Output is BNC Female. On request - Buffered Output can also be provided on PCB Terminal Blocks or Din Rail Terminal Blocks

Alarm and Trip Indication

IRD7100 MPT V25 is equipped with 12mm Alarm as well as Trip Indication Lamps per Channel. When observed value crosses set threshold of Alarm - then the Amber lamp for Alarm glows continuously. The lamp turns off automatically when the Vibration decreases below the Alarm Threshold. Same happens for the Trip Lamp wherein the color is Red in place of Amber.

Input Power Supply

IRD7100 MPT V25 is equipped with a Regulated Power Supply (RPS) that accepts 90-270 V AC, 50/60 Hz, Single Phase and generated Regulated 24 V DC required to Power the circuit. This RPS is of 25W rating and is screw mounted onto the Mounting plate within.

Input and Output Terminals

Each channel is equipped with Screw type Input and Output Terminals. 21 Numbers of Terminals per Channel. These are:

Setpoint Adjustment

There are dedicated trimpots on the PCB after opening Lid for changing the Setpoint of Alarm as well as Trip for each Channel. A pictorial instruction is given which indicates how to carry out the setpoint adjustment. Typically there is a Red Push Button Switch and a Black Push button switch for each Channel (marked within enclosure). The switch combination decides the modes that can be:
  1. RED and BLACK Switches both Up (Not pressed) - Display is set to show Live Vibration
  2. RED switch UP and BLACK switch Down - Display still set to show Live Vibration
  3. RED switch Down (pressed) and BLACK switch Up (Not pressed) - Display is set to show Alarm Setpoint (Use Trimpot beside Black Switch to change Setpoint)
  4. RED switch Down and BLACK switch Down (both pressed) - Display still set to show Trip Setpoint (Use Trimpot beside Black Switch - other than Alarm Trimpot to change setpoint)

Full Scale

The Full Scale of each channel is Factory Set and cannot be changed at Site. Some popular Full Scale options are 0-20 mm/s RMS and 0-50 mm/s RMS for Vibration Velocity. Consult our team at sales@irdmech.com or service@irdmech.com to help choose best full scale for your application

4-20 mA Output

The 4-20 mA output is Galvanically Isolated for each Channel. It is Linear over the Full Scale and proportional to the Full Scale

0-5 V DC Output

The 0-5 V DC Output available per Channel can be used for connection to Third Party Displays if needed apart from the In-built Display

Alarm and Trip Relays

2 Sets of Alarm and 2 Sets of Trip Relay Contacts (NO, C and NC) are provided per Channel. These are rated for 5A @230V AC and can be used for Protection and Annunciation

Optional RS485 MODBUS RTU Output

If requested - we can provide RS485 MODBUS RTU Output for IRD7100 MPT V25. Please specify before ordering
