Introduction
This article serves as the User Manual for IRD7100 when used for Gap Monitoring
Introduction to IRD Mechanalysis Limited
IRD Mechanalysis Limited is a provider of Condition Monitoring Solutions to the World since 1962. Also commonly referred to as 'IRD' and 'The Vibration People' - IRD provides Portable Instruments and Online Systems for Vibration, Temperature, Speed, Gap and Turbine Monitoring. IRD also provides associated services like Training, Consulting, Commissioning, Repairs and Calibration
Introduction to Gap Monitoring
Gap Monitoring is a part of Condition Monitoring. It involves use of a Gap Sensor to sense either Air Gap, Axial Gap or Radial Gap. Gap Sensors could be Capacitive type or Eddy Current type. Gap Monitoring allows user to know in real time if the Machinery being protected (Target) has become dangerously close or dangerously far from normal. When such Gap Sensors are connected to Gap Monitoring Transmitters like IRD7100 - the Customer gets Live Display, 4-20mA output, Forward and Reverse Alarm and Trip relay contacts.
Introduction to IRD7100
IRD7100 is a series of Wall Mounted Machinery Protection Transmitters (MPT). IRD7100 can be ordered for Vibration, Temperature, Speed, Gap and Turbine Monitoring. It can be ordered in Single, Dual, Three and Four Channel variants and in a variety of Enclosures - like Al Die Cast, Polycarbonate, CRCA and even Explosion proof
Technical Features
IRD7100 MPT designed for Gap Monitoring works on 230 V AC, 50/60 Hz, Single Phase Power Input. The Power Supply must be a Grounded Power Supply wherein Voltage between Neutral and Earth should be less than 2 V AC RMS.
IRD7100 MPT can do Gap Monitoring using Capacitive type or Eddy Current type Gap Sensors. When required Full Scale Gap is +/-1 mm - then an Eddy Current type Non-Contact Sensor of Sensitivity 8 V/mm is used.
