How to use IRD CAL Portable Calibrator?
IRD CAL Portable Calibrator is an easy to use device that can be used to quickly check Calibration of Vibration Meters on-site. It has Three Switch Positions - OFF, mV/g and mV/mm/s. It has a 2 Pin MS Male Connector and an Indication Lamp for Power Status. It works on single 9V Drycell battery.
Perspective view of IRD CAL Portable Calibrator
When the Slide Switch is set to mV/g position - the Calibrator generates a Pure Sine Wave of 70.7 mV AC RMS (to simulate 100 mV/g sensors) at a frequency of 100 Hz
When the Slide Switch is set to mV/mm/s position - the Calibrator generates a Pure Sine Wave of 44.14 mV AC RMS (to simulate 4 mV/mm/s sensors) at a frequency of 100 Hz
This simulated signal when connected to a Vibration Meter will lead to some display on the vibration meter. The observed display on the vibration meter needs to be compared with the expected reading chart pasted on the Calibrator body. The difference in values is the error in measurement.

We recommend getting the Portable Calibrator calibrated once every year from us to ensure accurate and precise results. We also recommend using the specified cable for checking calibration of Vibration Meters. Generally, a tolerance of +/- 10% on observed reading is acceptable
