How does OLIVER Extreme detect Unbalance?
OLIVER stands for On-Line Investigation of Vibration in Equipments and Rotary Machines. OLIVER Extreme is our top of the line offerring that performs Vibration Monitoring, Analysis and Diagnostics. If equipped with the right amount of Sensors on a bearing as well as Phase Reference Sensor - OLIVER Extreme will be able to detect Unbalance in a Machine. OLIVER Extreme detects Unbalance by checking for the following conditions:
- Overall Vibration Amplitude in 2 Radial Directions on a bearing is significantly high - more than set thresholds in 2 perpendicular radial directions
- Spectrum of the 2 high radial vibrations of the bearing indicate dominant 1X Vibration with 1X being more than 80% of Overall Vibration and other frequencies like 2X, 3X and so on being less than 20% of Overall Vibration
- Cross Channel Phase between the 2 radial Vibration Sensors is 90 Degrees +/- 30 Degrees
If OLIVER Extreme detects all 3 conditions present on a bearing in a machine - then it raises an In-software Alarm stating that the Machine has High Vibration and most likely cause of the High Vibration is Unbalance and OLIVER recommends Balancing as the Corrective Action.
